Recipe for a simple hazelnut strudel:

Ingredients for hazelnut strudel:

  • 1 package of puff pastry
  • 120 g of hazelnuts
  • 100 ml of apricot jam
  • 1 apple
  • 30 g of butter
  • 3 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 100 ml of sweet cream
  • 1 teaspoon of rum flavoring (optional)
  • icing sugar

The process of preparing hazelnut strudel:
First, grind the hazelnuts, add sugar, melted butter, cream (save two teaspoons for later) and rum flavoring. Then roll out the puff pastry and cover it with jam. Spread the hazelnut mixture on top. Fold the longer ends of the dough to the middle, which is repeated two more times. Transfer the dough to a rectangular cake pan lined with parchment paper. Then cut the apple into quarters, clean them, cut the quarters into three pieces, sprinkle them with a little cream and finally arrange them on top of the roll. Bake the strudel for one hour at 200 degrees Celsius. Cut it first, let it cool completely and sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired. And happy sweetening!
