Sweets of our and your youth: what did the children of Yugoslavia treat themselves to

Every individual can be nostalgic for his childhood, youth, successes, first love. We very much remember the times when the store shelves were not so full and many sweets were a real new experience.

Because we like to remember good things that give us feelings of growing up and youth, we still reach for products that bring us back to youth.

Eurocream

Eurocream was one of the most popular products in the former Yugoslavia. The chocolate hazelnut spread was produced in a factory in Gornji Milanovac near Belgrade. The joy at the sight of the bunny that we saw on our table this morning was indescribable. Namely, the spread was not a constant part of breakfasts, as it is today, but it disappeared just as quickly, as we spread it thickly on bread or pancakes.

Bazooka chewing gum

It is a pink-shaped chewing gum with the famous notch in the middle. Even today, chigumi reminds us of times of camaraderie, modesty and joy. We were able to work with him big balloons they shared it with each other, kept it in drawers and school bags. Unfortunately, after thirty seconds it lost its flavor and became "hard as a rock", but it simply tasted the best.

Lučka ice cream

The famous lights of Ljubljanske mlekaren have been delighting us for almost 65 years. As children, we always argued about which ice cream was better. Tom, Hedgehog or Lučka. The first Lučka was created in 1958, now an iconic ice cream on a stick. Do you remember the first packaging, when a cute, brown-eyed, black-haired girl was looking at us from the cover, swinging on the swings - in fact, her name was Milena, not Lučka?

Lučka is vanilla ice cream covered with chocolate, 10 years later in 1968 Ježko was put on walnut spikes, and in 1986 Tom joined them with his fruit filling. Even today, they form a legendary trio and an eternal debate about which ice cream is better.

Candy Bronchi

"Bronchi, it smells easier!" Bronhi original caramels are still made according to the original recipe and have been around for over 90 years. Candies are an eternal memory of our grandmothers, as they were kept in a glass cup in the cupboard. As children, we weren't too keen on them because they were hard and hot. Rather than that, we sweetened ourselves with Bajadera, which is still considered the queen of chocolate boxes. Every time we got it for a visit or as a gift, and that's why its biggest specialty is that you ate it with pleasure and didn't put it down.

Ice cubes

We reached for the ice cubes when we were tired of the taste of Bajadera. Pure icy pleasure was hidden in small ice cubes with a fresh icy taste.

Nostalgia and sweets take us back in time homesickness and homesickness for the past, awaken emotions in us and transport us to the old days of youth and adventures.
