It can happen to any of us that we forget to set the alarm and fall asleep in the morning. When it rains, we forget the umbrella. We have the impression that everything is working against us, then we are absolutely under stress.

If we can't turn off our phones and sleep the day away, we can at least eat food that will help us relieve stress. Food can comfort and relax us! With her, we slow down and calm down.

We present to you a list of foods that will help the body cope with stress.

Popcorn

Popcorn is a carbohydrate-rich food with a low glycemic index. They will help us raise the level of serotonin and thus also the mood. At the same time, their sound in the mouth while eating will help relieve the tension in the muscles of the face and jaw. But be careful if you add salt, oil, butter, or any other seasoning, their ability to relieve stress is lost.

Walnuts

They are full of nutrients, including healthy fatty acids and vitamin B. Vitamin B is an essential part of a healthy diet and can also help reduce stress. Almonds, pistachios, and walnuts have been shown to lower blood pressure, and pistachios in particular have been shown to help relieve the tension you feel. The magnesium they contain allows you to cope better with anxiety.

Dark chocolate

A 2016 study conducted by scientists with college students under stress proved that 40 grams of dark chocolate significantly reduced stress. Chocolate is high in tryptophan, which the body converts into mood-enhancing neurotransmitters, such as serotonin in the brain. It is also a good source of magnesium, which has an effect on symptoms of depression. When choosing dark chocolate, choose one that contains at least 70% cocoa powder. Do not overdo it, 1 to 3 grams is enough.

Salmon

Fish such as mackerel, herring or salmon are incredibly rich in omega 3 fats and vitamin D. These are all nutrients that have been proven to help reduce stress levels and improve mood. In fact, low omega 3 intake is directly linked to anxiety and depression, so in addition to being essential for health, omega 3 helps the body manage stress.

Oranges

The hormone that causes stress is called cortisol, and its biggest enemy is vitamin C. In addition, people with high levels of vitamin C recover faster from stressful situations. Taking about 1000 mg of this vitamin reduces the level of cortisol, better known as the stress hormone. In addition to vitamin C helping your body cope, just peeling an orange helps you reduce stress.
