Autumn is here and with its beautiful nature, it invites us to explore corners that we did not know before. Slovenia is full of natural attractions, and autumn is a great opportunity to visit them.

Špičnik

Styria offers a number of excellent autumn excursion spots, among which the romantic Špičnik stands out. This is the place where the famous heart-shaped path is located, which you must have heard of before. From the vantage point, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the vineyards and, of course, a heart. The latter has an interesting story behind it. The road to the tourist farm used to lead through Austria, which is right next to it, so the locals built a macadam road. When they wanted to pave it, it was too steep, so they built it in curves and the famous heart was created. Here you will also find some beautiful footpaths, many of which are also suitable for Nordic walking.

Mountain Uskovnica

From Rudne polje, we head through a shady spruce forest past pastures to the idyllic Uskovnica plateau. There is a renovated cottage where you can refresh yourself with homemade delicacies. The path is also suitable for younger children, as it is not steep, but at the same time it is exciting to explore. The path to the mountain turns into autumn colors in the autumn months and is therefore perfect for beautiful sunny weekends or holidays.

The witch's cottage - The land of fairy tales and fantasy

Just a few minutes away from the Olimje Monastery, hidden in the forest, you will find the Land of Fairy Tales and Imagination. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a dwarf on the balcony, and on your way through the country you will meet witches and characters from Slovenian and foreign literature. Your children will be fascinated by the world of fairy tales with heroes such as Kekec, Bedanc, Krjavel, Sneguljčica and the rest of the gang. An unforgettable fairy tale that invites you to let your imagination run wild is located just a stone's throw away from the popular Slovenian spas, so it is perfect for a weekend break in this part of Slovenia.

Goriška brda

The beautiful Brda never disappoints, neither in summer, nor in winter, nor in autumn. The region is known for its orchards of cherries and other fruits, as well as for its excellent Rujna drop, which attracts lovers of wine-growing hills in autumn. The doors of wine streams and farm tourism await you wide open, and with a good drop they also serve you excellent homemade food. When you are rested and your stomach is full, visit Dobrovo Castle or the recently renovated residence of the Counts of Gorizia - Vipolže Castle. There is no shortage of natural sights in Brdy, and from the Krčnik natural bridge there are more than 40 meters long riverbeds formed by the Kožbanjšček stream.

Rakov Škocjan

Rakov Škocjan, a 2.5 km long nature trail along the river Rak, which is also suitable for the youngest, turns into autumn colors. On the way, you will learn about magical karst phenomena and bathe in brightly colored foliage. See the Veliki and Mali natural bridges, the Zelška caves, the stone bridge and others. You can adjust the difficulty and duration of the walk as you wish, and you can drive as far as you like on the wide road by car.
