The world may be obsessed with batteries, but BMW and Alpina have just proven that true luxury still has eight cylinders and the irresistible charm of the past in a concept - the Vision BMW Alpina.
And no, it's not electric. Under that endlessly long engine hood beats a real, mechanical heart. It's a beautiful, V8-powered (likely a heavily modified version of the 4.4-liter supercharged engine from the M5) that tells the world that gasoline has not yet had its last word. This is the Vision BMW Alpine.

Philosophy of speed through perfect comfort – Vision BMW Alpina
Alpine's founder, Burkard Bovensiepen, has always advocated a single, ingeniously simple philosophy: A relaxed and comfortable driver is also a faster driver. While modern sports cars try to convince you that stiff suspension is the only way to go fast, BMW Alpina Vision takes a completely different path. The car brings a new way of driving Comfort+, which is set so softly that it would probably sound like a drive across the moon. In addition, there are Sport, Sport+ and Speed modes, ensuring that this luxury cruiser retains all its dynamic sovereignty.
In terms of design, it is a true masterpiece that evokes the spirit of the past. With a total length of 519.9 cm (204.7 inches), this luxury GT is even longer than the giant BMW X7 SUV. The low and wide profile immediately recalls the aggressive “shark nose” look of the legendary Alpina B7 Coupe from the late 1970s. The distinctive kidney grille at the front has been transformed into a three-dimensional sculpture with dark metallic surfaces, a direct homage to the iconic BMW 507.

They haven't forgotten about the details that define the brand either. The famous thin "deco-lines" stickers that have adorned Alpina models since 1974 are now carefully hidden just beneath the clear body paint for a more refined and modern look. The car stands on massive, recognizable 20-spoke rims – they measure in front 22 inches, but behind it all 23 inches – a form that has remained unchanged since 1971.

An interior that redefines the meaning of the word “luxury”
If the exterior captivates you, the cabin will completely captivate you. The interior is divided horizontally by a unique six-degree line that wraps around the entire cabin. All surfaces are upholstered in the most prestigious, full-grain leather, sourced exclusively from suppliers in the Alpine region.

But the real spectacle happens in the back seats. At the push of a button, a glass water bottle (BMW is strict about not using a whiskey decanter, as it's best to stay sober at these speeds) rises elegantly from the rear center console, along with two crystal glasses held in place by powerful magnets. Each glass is hand-engraved with 20 distinctive lines and has a rim angled exactly six degrees. If you're going for a design theme, you have to execute it to perfection.
The driver's job is dominated by BMW Panoramic iDrive A screen with special Alpina graphics that adapts to the selected driving mode: in Comfort+ mode, it soothes you with cool blue tones, while when you switch to Speed mode, the graphics change to warm, dynamic shades, ready for action.
Conclusion: What does this mean for the future?
BMW Alpina Vision is currently just a unique design study and is not officially for sale for any money in the world. However, it is not intended to gather dust in a museum. This car is a loud and clear preview of the first production model of the new BMW Alpina era, which will be launched in 2027 and will be based on the platform of the prestigious 7 Series.

Although final performance figures, such as 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) and top speed in km/h (mph), remain a closely guarded secret, the sight of the four elliptical exhaust pipes promises a symphony that will drown out all the modern electrical noise. Initial projections suggest that the production model will be priced somewhere around $200,000 (approximately 185,000 euros). A lot? Maybe. But for a car that successfully combines the nostalgia of bold 1970s design, uncompromising luxury and a roaring V8 engine, that's actually a real trifle. The automotive world just got a little more interesting with the concept – Vision BMW Alpine.
