Volkswagen e-Beetle: The Volkswagen classic has gone electric

Volkswagen Group Components operates under the auspices of the Volkswagen concern and they are responsible for the electric conversion Volkswagen e-Beetle, which is considered one of Volkswagen's biggest a classic. The electric drive, gearbox and battery were borrowed from the model e-up!, and the other components at upcoming Volkswagen electric cars. The modified Beetle has 60 kW (82 hp) of power and a capacity battery 36.8 kWh. We can drive with a full load up to 200 kilometers, after one hour charging, but we have enough energy for additional ones 150 kilometers paths.

The conversion added quite a bit of weight, and the electric Beetle weighs just the right amount 1,280 kilograms. This made it necessary strengthen chassis and brakes. The maximum speed reached by the Beetle is 150 km/h, acceleration of 0 to 50 km/h but a little less than 4 seconds.
