Do you often wash your hair right before bed, or do you immediately wrap it in a towel and go to bed? Not at all. Wet hair and lying in bed are not the best combination. Why?

Drying your hair can be a very annoying and time-consuming task, especially if you have very long hair. You are often tempted to just take a shower, put on your pajamas and go to bed. We know that sleeping with wet hair is not the best solution, but sometimes we just want to save time or we don't want to damage our hair with a hair dryer.

But there are 8 good reasons why you should never go to bed with wet hair.

1. Hypothermia

If the room is drafty or the temperature drops at night, you will probably have worse sleep than usual.

2. Fall of the immune system

In addition to discomfort, hypothermia can also weaken the body's immune system. Despite the claim that only a virus can bring a cold, there is evidence that high humidity combined with low temperatures can contribute to it. Why? Because cooling the body constricts the blood vessels that carry the white blood cells that must fight infection. As a result, the body's natural defenses are weakened and a person is more likely to get sick.

3. Bacteria

The combination of heat and moisture creates ideal conditions for the rapid growth of bacteria. Imagine how much bacteria will appear on your pillow while you sleep with wet hair. Some bacteria even get inside the pillow.

4. Headache

The growth of bacteria in turn leads to increased blood circulation, because the body will try to get rid of them in any way possible. This will cause an increase in pressure and consequently a headache.

5. Dandruff

Sleeping with wet hair strips the scalp of its natural lipid barrier, which, along with excess moisture, is absorbed into the bedding and pillow. The lack of a protective layer on the skin combined with increased bacterial growth and fungal development creates dandruff.

6. Hair breakage

Wet hair is sensitive to any impact, it becomes very weak and brittle. Therefore, they should not be combed until they are dry, and for the same reason, you should not sleep with wet hair. We often turn over during sleep and the friction that occurs at this moment breaks the hair structure or seriously damages it. Wet hair tied in a bun or ponytail gives the same result.

7. Problems with the appearance of hair

Sleeping with wet hair often means that you will have a messy head in the morning. The hairstyle was shaped in its own way while sleeping. Wet hair is curled and gradually dried and remains fixed in this position. Very often it can happen that you will have to wet and dry your hair again in the morning.

8. Dry hair

In addition to moisture, the pillow also absorbs natural oil, which inside and outside our hair and protects it from various influences. In addition to protection, it also gives them shine and moisture. This makes the hair look dull, dry and lifeless. For the same reason, many recommend sleeping not on cotton pillows (because they have a good influence), but on silk ones.

If possible, dry your hair before going to bed, it will thank you, and so will your body.
