Ingredients

  • 360 g of white flour
  • 240 ml of warm water
  • 60 g of butter + 120 g of butter for the filling
  • 7 g of instant yeast
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar
  • a teaspoon of salt
  • a little olive oil
  • 45 g of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic
  • a small handful of fresh parsley
  • salt

Directions

  1. First, make the dough. Mix flour, salt, sugar and instant yeast. Add melted butter and warm water. Mix everything together on a lightly floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes.
  2. Form the dough into a ball, drizzle it with oil and cover everything with a clean cloth. Leave to rise for about 2.5 hours or enough time to double the volume.
  3. Put the risen dough back on a floured surface and shape it into a rectangle about half a meter long. Use a knife to cut the dough into strips about 2.5 centimeters wide.
  4. Stretch each strip in your hand and tie it into a knot. Fold the edges of the dough under a knot. Repeat the process until you have used up all the dough.
  5. Place the shaped pastry on two greased baking sheets. Let the pastry rise for about half an hour.
  6. Heat the oven to 180 C.
  7. For the filling, melt butter and add grated garlic. Before baking the pastry, spread half of the mixture on the risen dough.
  8. Bake the pastry in a preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until it gets a nice golden color.
  9. When the baking is finished, coat it with the rest of the prepared butter, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese, a little salt and chopped parsley.
