1. Skoda Kodiaq (luggage space 720 liters)

Shame on the Kodiaq is probably the best family car, as it is the absolute winner in most categories. It has a massive luggage space, which is almost unimaginable in the SUV segment. An excellent range of Volkswagen engines and, given the current desirability of this model, certainly a good used vehicle resale value. High level of safety features and 5 stars in crash tests. And these are the criteria by which this Škoda climbs to the very top of the list of the most recommended cars for families.

2. Škoda Superb Combi (luggage space 660 liters)

Skoda Superb Combi is an excellent business limousine that impresses family fathers with its volume of the luggage compartment, who do not need to install roof boxes because of all the liters in the back. Of course, Škoda Superb Combi also impresses in other categories, with excellent preservation of the value of the used vehicle, safety and other parameters. The problem can only be the somewhat high entry price of the Škoda Superb, which is very competitive with its sister company, the Volkswagen Passat. With the latter, you put a little less in the back, but here the difference is really not excessive - just under 10 liters. Therefore, the decision is actually a matter of taste. We recommend both.

3. Citroen C4 Grand Picasso (luggage space 645 liters)

When we compare the numbers in all categories, we cannot ignore the fact that Citroen C4 Grand Picasso seems like a choice where you get the most for your money. So if we could give an award in a segment price/performance, then this particular car is definitely a winner. It represents the ideal companion for families who need a good 'carriage' and are often tempted to spend active weekends. The cheap materials in the vehicle are somewhat misleading at first impression. But on the other hand, they are more durable than the 'fine' ones and thus more family-oriented. A really good family buy!

4. Volkswagen Touran (luggage space 734 liters)

Volkswagen Touran in theory, it is a small family MPV that doesn't promise much from the outside. But that's how it is with most Volkswagens, which hide their trump cards all too shyly. The luggage space of 734 liters is a record. You can still break this record if you think of a luggage net and fill your Touran up to the roof in the back. In this case, you can use as much as 1,000 liters of luggage space. As much as others don't have with roof boxes. Of course, the Volkswagen Touran also impresses in all other categories. It will retain its value proverbially perfectly, it is absolutely safe and you won't be ashamed to go to business meetings with it. So everything you can expect from a real Volkswagen. Its excellence is somewhat marred by the family-unfriendly price tag, which is a bit high for the entry-level versions. But the champion reimburses this higher base price elsewhere.

5. Peugeot 3008 (luggage space 520 liters)

We can't go past the European Car of the Year, which is Peugeot 3008, which we placed in the category of the best family cars, because the SUV category is on the rise. Even though these in the rear do not meet the family's requirements in any way. Roof boxes only partially solve this problem, because due to the shape of SUVs, they are placed extremely high and thus more difficult to access. Sports utility vehicles have become 'popular' by force of circumstances, but they are by no means the smartest choice for families. If you're extremely fond of these types of cars, then there's no reason why the Peugeot 3008 shouldn't be as high on your list of favorites as possible.

6. Peugeot 308 station wagon (SW); (luggage space 660 liters)

The miracle in the segment of family wagons carries the label 308 SW, which, among other things, boasts the title of European Car of the Year 2015. The miracle is because it hides as much as 660 liters in the back. The latter represent an absolute record in their class. Recently slightly renovated Peugeot 308 (his facial wrinkles were licked) is definitely one of the more rational purchases, as you can get a new one with a lot of equipment in the price range between 17,000 and 20,000 euros. If you choose the gasoline version with 130 horses, this already means the highest level of equipment and a bunch of high-class safety systems. The 308 SW is our quiet favorite.

7. Opel Astra station wagon (luggage space 540 liters)

Opel Astra just like the Peugeot 308, boasts the title of European Car of the Year (2016) and is an excellent choice for dynamic fathers. Although there is less space in the trunk, it exceeds the volume of practically all SUVs and thus represents an excellent alternative to minivans. Dynamic design and advanced technologies. Astra is really not bad!

8. Seat Ateca (luggage space 510 liters)

The Spaniards, under the patronage of Volkswagen, make more and more interesting cars, and rightly so Ateca seems to be the one that brings the most to the table for families. The luggage space is acceptable for the SUV class. We also praise the freshness and levels of equipment. Also a rich 'stock' of assistance systems that make this car safer.

9. Seat Leon ST (luggage space 587 liters)

Seat Leon ST otherwise, it does not have as big a luggage space as the Peugeot 308, but on the other hand, it repays us with excellence in all categories. This is also why Slovenian journalists recently declared it the best family station wagon in its segment. And we can only congratulate them. For a price of around 19,000 euros, you will get practically everything, including assistance systems in the newly renewed model (March 2017).

10. Renault Grand Scenic (luggage space 596 liters)

Scenic has been the winner of the hearts of Slovenian families for years. This is also why it is a constant on Slovenian roads. With the recent presentation of the new generation, it immediately became clear that Renault wants to stay that way. We chose Grand Scenic, also because it hides a good 600 liters in the back. Which is a lot, but by no means a record. It's in these numbers that Renault seems to miss a bit sometimes. Good family cars bet precisely on the volume with which family fathers solve problems with luggage. But it wins in other segments, such as the proverbial security. And really his form, which jumped out and is really fresh and different. But it's true that everyone has their own painter, and so he likes to drive with the Renault brand.

11. Ford S-Max (luggage space 700 liters)

Ford has many family-friendly vehicles in its model range. But none of them are as family-friendly as the right one Ford S-Max. Ford's proverbial quality and driving dynamics, as well as the rather sporty design of the vehicle, ensure that this car will provide transportation in style. The S-Max has always stood out with its low-slung wagon silhouette, and it performs tremendously on the road. The only thing we complain about the new generation is the somewhat high price of the entry-level model.

12. Mazda CX-5 (luggage space 503 liters)

Ha ... Mazda is becoming more and more a premium car and feelings in the new one Mazda CX-5 they are so great that we put it on the list despite the not so big luggage space. But it will pay for itself with proverbial Japanese reliability and, of course, bold design.

13. BMW 2 – Gran Tourer (luggage space 645 liters)

Probably the most disliked BMW. It sounds harsh, but it's definitely true. It is a car that automotive journalists nicknamed the papamobile. mainly because of the slightly awkwardly designed rear part. But it hides the family's 645 liters. Enough to fit much more luggage than the regular version. Due to the shape of the car, we recommend the M equipment package, which also makes this rear look great.

14. Hyundai Tucson (luggage space 513 liters)

Hyundai often overlooked. But completely unjustified! With its 5-year warranty, with no mileage limit, it emphasizes its real strengths right from the start. Hyundais are reliable cars that have recently been able to evoke real emotions with their design. Hyundai Tucson is definitely the first candidate in the range of family cars. With its striking shape, modern assistance systems and many other assets, it is a real hit on Slovenian roads.
