Ten years after its first appearance on the roads, the Porsche Macan experienced its second generation, this time also as a fully electric vehicle – the electric Porsche Macan. With typical Porsche performance, design and innovative technology, the new electric Porsche Macan promises to set new standards in the electric SUV segment.
The second generation of the Porsche Macan brings more than just the switch to electric power; represents a technological breakthrough using the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform developed by Porsche together with Audi. This platform, which uses an 800-volt electric architecture, will serve as the basis for the upcoming Audi A6 and Q6 EV models, and possibly the all-electric Porsche Cayenne.
The electric Porsche Macan 4 and Macan Turbo offer impressive power – up to 470 kW (639 PS) and an incredible 1130 Nm of torque. With an electric range of between 516 and 613 km (WLTP), which increases to 665 to 784 km in the city, this SUV is not only powerful, but also extremely practical for everyday use. You will not feel the lack of range, as it is comparable to petrol range. The Macan 4 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, while the Macan Turbo achieves this in a mere 3.3 seconds, with a top speed of 260 km/h.
Its 100 kWh battery (95 kWh usable) ensures a long range and fast charging. o is the capacity that is necessary for the car to cover even 400 kilometers on highways. With a DC charging power of up to 270 kW, the battery is charged from 10 to 80 percent in about 21 minutes, which is an excellent result. At 400-volt charging stations, the battery can also be charged effectively without an additional high-voltage amplifier, at a speed of up to 135 kW. The battery of the new Macan uses lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt cells, arranged in 12 modules, with a net capacity of 95 kWh (100 kWh gross). Porsche was the first automaker to build an 800-volt EV, and this architecture allows for reduced copper consumption and faster charging. With the 800-volt DC charger, the Macan can be charged with a power of up to 270 kW, and with the 400-volt charger, the battery is effectively charged in parallel mode, which significantly shortens the charging time.
The suspension of the new Macan is designed with multi-point linkages at the front and rear. The Macan comes standard with air suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) adaptive dampers. New to the Macan is an optional rear-wheel steering system that steers the rear wheels up to five degrees in or out of phase with the front wheels, increasing maneuverability at low speeds.
The design of the Macan is true to its roots, but at the same time it reflects the future of electric vehicles. With sharp proportions and coupé lines, it exudes sportiness and dynamism. Porsche's design incorporates active and passive aerodynamics with an extremely low drag coefficient of 0.25, which has a positive effect on range and energy consumption. The coefficient is really good and the best in its segment.
Inside, the Macan offers a spacious and high-quality cabin. Electrification has brought increased luggage space, depending on the model and equipment, up to 540 liters. In addition, there is also a 'frunk' - a second luggage compartment under the hood with a capacity of 84 liters. The Macan is equipped with the latest digital interfaces, including a free-standing 12.6-inch curved instrument display and a 10.9-inch central display.
Porsche is also committed to using ecological materials. A certain proportion of such materials is used in the interior of all electric Macan models.
