House of Three Trees: Dream Residence in Ibiza

Spanish architecture firm Gallardo Llopis Arquitectos has built a linear two-story residence on the Spanish island of Ibiza. As the name suggests, the house is built around three trees. The house boasts spacious and open spaces that blur the boundaries by dividing the house into indoor and outdoor space.

Since the plot is surrounded by other houses and does not have a particularly nice view, the architects decided that the house should create its own "inner landscape". They achieved this with a series of terraces that offer a pleasant view of the garden and greenery. The building was designed to provide privacy and protect from the view of neighbors.

The architects removed parts of the structure to create terraces on different levels. The outdoor spaces, typical of Mediterranean architecture and lifestyle, form a plant area of three trees. Cypress, olive and willow trees give a characteristic character to the outdoor space, as well as to the indoor spaces that surround them.

At the rear of the house above the pool stands a dynamic, cantilevered structure that provides privacy and protection from the hot summer sun. There are living spaces in the trunk, so the living room is near the entrance, and the kitchen and dining room merge onto the terrace at the back. Sliding glass doors allow the interior space to be extended to include the pool and adjacent living room during the warmer months. The upper floor is more closed and includes four bedrooms. A staircase connects the upper floors with the basement, where the garage, gym and laundry room are located.

The entire project is designed with a mix of rough stone wall textures and smooth white surfaces, complemented by glass and wood. Thus, the house achieves a balance between tradition and modernity.
