Lotus Evija: a hypercar with almost 2000 electric horses

Like all Lotus cars throughout the brand's 71-year history, the Evija is engineered to deliver an exceptional driving experience both on the open road and on the race track. But in many ways it is a milestone as it sets completely new standards for hyper cars.

The name Evija (pronounced E-vi-ya) means "first to exist" or "living". This is very appropriate; Lotus has an undisputed reputation for its pioneering approach to motorsport. But she is a model Evia in many ways the first. In any case, the first electric Lotus. And Lotus, which somehow changes our view of the world of supercars or hypercars.

So let's just go with some facts. Evija can do just about anything 1972 horse power - or 2000 ps. From 0 – 100 km/h will accelerate under 3 seconds, while the final speed will be limited to 320 km/h and Evija will reach it in under 9 seconds. There is an astonishing figure on the torque, which amounts to 1,700 Nm. Among other things, it is also extremely light and mostly made of carbon. Its weight is only 1,680 kilograms. The battery, which is hidden in a special design, is capable of just that 400 kilometer range. The latter pauses 70 kw/h / 2,000 kW and it should be able to be charged with fast charging in just 18 minutes. Evia will also be able to be almost completely individualized, and that is why it will only be available 130 cars, which were supposed to honor the Type 130 model.

Director of Lotus Cars –  Phil Popham said at a presentation in London: "Lotus Evija is a car like no other. It will re-establish our brand's reputation in the hearts and minds of motoring enthusiasts. This car also paves the way for further visionary models."

At the heart of the essence of Evia is the ultra-advanced all-electric drive. It was developed by a technical partner Williams Advanced Engineering, known for his success in motorsport, from Formula 1 until the electrification of the first four seasons Formula E. The battery is located directly behind the two seats and powers four powerful electric motors. it is an extremely efficient system that is the lightest and most energy-efficient electric package ever installed in a road car. The weight of the car is only 1,680 kg. The latter means that Evija is the lightest pure electric hypercar in series production.
