It takes just under half an hour to prepare, and it only takes eight minutes to bake - just right to make the house smell like the holidays.
Since recipes are a sacred thing for female cooks, it is right to first mention where the recipe comes from. These are cookies that were sold at HappyPek years ago as part of a charity campaign. They baked according to the recipes of famous people and together with them, and these ginger cookies are a hint of the then first lady Barbara Miklič Türk.
The formalities are settled, and now the action. We need 3 eggs, 100 grams of sugar, 350 grams of dark chocolate, 50 grams of butter, 120 grams of flour, 6 grams of baking powder, 30 grams of candied ginger, 6 grams of ground ginger, 100 grams of powdered almonds. Beat the eggs and sugar into a foamy mixture. Melt the dark chocolate and butter in a water bath. Add the melted chocolate to the frothy mixture and all the other ingredients at the same time. Mix into a smooth mixture, and form balls from it (if you wish, you can make more flat cookies like the ones in the photo). Dip each ball first in granulated sugar and then in powdered sugar. Bake them for 8 minutes at 190 degrees Celsius.
The balls will crack a little, that's why we named them crackers. Also, the cracks will grow in the oven, so keep this fact in mind when forming the balls.
