Subaru WRX STI: something toxic again from the Subaru workshop

Subaru WRX STI

Subaru was better known for its sports models a decade or two ago, when many 'mules' argued about which was better, the Subaru Impreza or the Mitsubishi Lancer. Now there's the Subaru WRX STI, which will once again make some blood boil.

Subaru WRX STI, or even more precisely WRX STI S209, was presented recently at the Detroit Auto Show. According to estimates, it has 341 horsepower, which provides them 2.5 liter turbine 4-cylinder engine. The S209 has a larger turbine that can handle more pressure. The exhaust system, which has for 17% better airflow and is significantly lighter than the one on the 'regular' WRX model. It is only available 6-speed manual transmission and of course the well-known Subarus four-wheeled drive. To this we can add improved suspension, tires Dunlop and braking system Brembo.

Compared to the WRX, the STI is for 43.2 mm wider, which means it has the wheels set for 15.2 mm further apart. 19-inch rims BBS they are shod with Dunlop GT600A tires, which were developed especially for the STI S209 model, and only this model can achieve an enviable force that keeps the car glued to the ground, in the size one G. S209 will be available towards the end of 2019, but unfortunately it will be very difficult to get it in Slovenia.
