Volkswagen literally changed the automotive industry many decades ago with the launch of the original Beetle, officially introduced back in 1938. And it seems that the ID.3 is the car that will be similarly important for the German company. It is the first serial and fully electric vehicle for mass, "people's production" of Volkswagen. In a way, the ID.3 is the "great-grandson" of the original Beetle, i.e. a car that will change the way electric cars are viewed and start a new era of environmentally friendly mobility for the Volkswagen brand.
Volkswagen ID.3 (VW ID.3) is the first of of many electric cars, which Volkswagen plans to produce on ti MEV platform. It comes in the form of a traditional five-door hatchback with an autonomous battery range of up to 550 kilometers. Production of the first truly electric Volkswagen ID.3 will start this November, but it will get it first 30,000 customers, who has already pre-ordered the car. This is a figure that surprised even many connoisseurs, as buyers really did not know what they were buying.
Because it's about an architecturally all-electric car that is, despite its dimensions, it is surprisingly roomy. Namely, with the help of the platform, the engineers hid most of the things in the chassis of the vehicle and in this way obtained an extremely spacious interior. Electric motor it is mounted on the rear axle, where it is accompanied by a single-speed gearbox. Other components such as air conditioner compressor, are integrated into the front part. The smart modern design and the materials used also enable an interestingly low overall weight, namely 1719 kilograms, which is good for an electric car.
The most important thing is certainly the range and thus the battery of an electric car. Customers will be able to choose between three different battery options when the ID.3 goes into production. The base model will have a battery with 45 kWh to reach up to 330 km with one charge (after the WLTP standard). This is followed by two batteries with a label 58 kWh in autonomous reach 420 km and battery with 77 kWh, with which to ID.3 transported 550 kilometers with one charge. With a fast charger with 100 kW (there really aren't many of them), you should be able to "accumulate" enough energy for a range of about 180 kilometers in 30 minutes.
Volkswagen also revealed some interesting technical data. ID.3 has rear drive, which puts on the road 150 kW respectively 204 horses. It is also interesting and constant torque 310 Nm. Exact numbers of accelerations Volkswagen he doesn't reveal, but he did reveal that he limited the final speed to 160 km/h. Because ID.3 will still have it a folk omen, we believe, that the acceleration number will not be shocking, but quite sufficient for the people and certainly better than comparable vehicles with an internal combustion engine.

ID.3 1ST: Launch Editon
As it should be "premiere" version stocked with many goodies. Thus, buyers get a standard satellite system, heated seats and a steering wheel, which is comparable to the equipment line Comfort line. In the 1ST version, buyers can upgrade the equipment level with the Plus version with 19-inch wheels, parking camera, radar cruise control, better upholstery, tinted windows and matrix LED headlights. As a highlight of the equipment, Volkswagen also offers a version 1ST Max, which adds a premium audio system, a panoramic roof and wheels with 20 inches.
For future buyers, the most important thing is the price of the car, which will be for the entry-level version remained below 30,000 euros (the price is not yet official) (data for Germany). Apart from that and the subsidy for electric vehicles, we can quickly find out that the ID.3 can be the true successor of the classic one Golf and that the entry price will be around 23,000 euros (the price is not yet official). At this price, it is definitely the first popular electric car and a serious competitor to the Nissan LEAF. All those who pre-ordered the "premier version" will receive the first cars in June 2020, and "serious" delivery can be expected at the end of the year 2020.
