While new electric cars seem like expensive investments, the market for lightly used electric cars is very attractive, as their prices can drop as low as 50% in the first three years. This is due to a number of factors, including the natural depreciation experienced by conventional vehicles and the rapid decline in prices of new electric cars over the past two years, partly driven by Tesla. For this purpose, we have selected the most interesting models, especially those that have lost a really large part of their value, but are among the best electric vehicles in the world in terms of all their characteristics.

At the editorial office, we set some exceptional criteria for the selection - used electric cars, with the aim of highlighting the truly best options so that you will not be disappointed with the purchase of an electric car. All the cars in our selection have large batteries with a capacity of over 80 kWh, which enables the reach about 400 kilometers in a mixed driving regime. Most of them have around or over 300 horsepower, and almost all of them are equipped with 4×4 drive. They are between 3 and 4 years old, some even less. All prices are under 50,000 euros, and all cars have at least four years warranty on the battery and driven no more than 60,000 kilometers.

With these parameters, we ensure that the selected models are an excellent first choice for a family car that is not used too much. There is only one Tesla among the selected, specifically the 2020 Tesla Model 3 Performance. The new one was worth around 70,000 euros, but now you can buy it for about 35,000 euros, and the car is usually not older than three years. It's the same with the Audi e-tron, which you can buy for around 39,000 euros, although its purchase price was about 90,000 euros.

Many electric cars have relatively low mileage and an incredibly high loss in value. If you are familiar with the technology and current experiences with electric cars, you know that mileage is not an issue and many believe that electric vehicles will traveled much more than usual, without major service interventions.

Let's take a look at our selection used electric cars, which have lost a lot of value, but are still fresh:

Audi e-tron: 408 PS / 95 kWh / 39,000 EUR / year 2019

Audi e-tron is one of the first, but still one of the most futuristic cars. After our online search, we found many of them with a price tag of around 40,000 euros and with low mileage. This model boasts acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h only 5.7 seconds and a maximum speed of 200 km/h. With usable battery capacity 86.5 kWh (net) provides a "realistic" range of up to 375 km. With fast charging of around 160 kW, you can charge the e-tron from 10 to 80% in 30 minutes, ensuring minimal downtime on long journeys. The car is a current electric car in all respects.

Jaguar I-Pace EV400 S: 400 PS / 90 kWh / 42,000 EUR / year 2020

Jaguar I-Pace was one of those cars that was really applauded by the motoring press and we don't understand why Jaguar it hasn't introduced new electric models since then, because the I-Pace is really good. Jaguar I-Pace EV400 S combines elegance with power, offers 400 hp and 696 Nm of torque, which allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in an impressive 4.8 seconds. With an electric range of around 400 km and a useful battery capacity of 84.7 kWh, the I-Pace is ready for adventures without compromise. It offers fast charging of up to somewhere around 120 kW (according to the latest reports), which allows charging the battery from 0 to 80% in 72 minutes, which is not fast by modern standards, but greatly outweighs the net capacity, which is quite high.

Mercedes-Benz EQC 400 4Matic: 408 PS / 84 kWh / 43,000 EUR / year 2020

Mercedes-Benz EQC 400 4MATIC is the perfect combination of luxury and sustainable mobility. Z power of 408 PS and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds, the EQC not only offers a smooth ride, but also a range of around 400 km, thanks to a usable battery capacity of 80.0 kWh. With a maximum fast charging power of 110 kW, the EQC takes only 40 minutes to charge from 10 to 80%. The charging speed is not record-breaking, which is otherwise its biggest minus. However, at a price of just over 40,000 euros and a loss of more than 30,000 euros, you shouldn't complain too much. Namely, we discovered some vehicles with really low mileage. High on our list of used electric cars.

Tesla Model 3 Performance: 534 PS / 82 kWh / 37,000 EUR / year 2020

Tesla Model 3 is definitely the best electric car you can buy right now. If you choose the Performance version, you have chosen the cherry on top of the cake. With a useful battery capacity of 76.0 kWh and a realistic range of up to 470 km, this model is truly designed for performance. Among the used ones, we also found models that have FSD – autopilot for completely independent driving, which otherwise costs approx 8,000 euros. Considering the fact that the car has lost half its value in three years, in our opinion, inexcusably, it is by far the best and most proven used electric car buy right now! Škoda Enyaq Coupé RS 4×4: 299 PS / 82 kWh / 45,000 EUR / year 2022

In all likelihood, this is the wildest Škoda of all time. If we start only with the design and then proceed further down the list of goodies it offers. It was presented at the end of the previous year, but the price of practically new ones is dropping tremendously. So you can get it fully stocked for around 45,000 euros. With its sporty design and dynamic performance, the Škoda Enyaq Coupé RS 4×4 represents a new step in the evolution of the brand. With a range of up to 525 km in mild weather and a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 5.5 seconds, this electric SUV is truly impressive. With a useful capacity of 77.0 kWh and the possibility of fast charging up to 175 kW, the Enyaq Coupé RS 4×4 ensures that it is always ready for the road. The numbers really aren't off the mark and are very close to what the current entry-level model Tesla Y offers. At this price, it's a good buy.

Polestar 2 – LR: 231 KM (PS) / 78 kWh / 45,000 EUR / year 2022

We have it in the editorial office Polestar 2 extremely liked the visual as we like Volvos. No matter how you look at it, it's an electric Volvo with a little more equipment. The car has received some criticism, but we think it should be valued for what it is. A good electric car for those who want a slightly different look. And this is what Volvo always communicates. It may not have the most horsepower - 231, but it makes up for it with a relatively large battery, which it must have, because the car, like any Volvo, is quite heavy. Fast charging is really good and reaches speeds of up to around 200kW, allowing for fast charging times. The actual range of the car is about 430 kilometers, which, given its year and price, makes it an interesting car in our selection.
