Aston Martin has unveiled the Aston Martin DBX S – the world’s most powerful non-electric SUV. With 717 PS and 900 Nm of torque and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.3 seconds, this super SUV combines brutal power with luxury.

In a world where SUVs are no longer just spacious family vans but brutal road warriors, Aston Martin continues to prove that British chic can be deadly fast. Aston Martin DBX S It's based on the familiar DBX707, but with the help of engineers from Valhalla (a supercar, not the Nordic heavens) they've squeezed even more power out of the same 4.0-litre biturbo V8 engine – now 717bhp (527kW). Torque remains at 900Nm, meaning this car is ready to tear up the tarmac – and your hair.

Acceleration to 100 km/h takes just 3.3 seconds, and the top speed is 310 km/h (193 mph). This makes it one of the fastest SUVs the world has ever seen – without any electric assistance. It may also be one of the last of its kind – the last samurai among the perfectly honed electric swords.

Lighter, faster, sharper

Aston Martin has not only added horsepower, it has also reduced weight. A new carbon fiber roof – the largest ever used by the brand – means 18 kilograms less. Magnesium 23-inch wheels contribute a further 19 kg savings. Together with other measures, the Aston Martin DBX S boasts 47 kg less weight than the DBX707, bringing the total weight down to 2,198 kg.

Since it's a roof and wheels, the center of gravity has been lowered. Engineers have also tightened the screws on the chassis: the DBX S has the same suspension as the DBX707, but with better steering feel (the steering gear is 4 % faster) and a smaller turning circle (12 m).

Exterior design: An SUV that screams respect

The new Aston Martin DBX S is visually unsubtle. A huge black grille, an aggressive front splitter, newly designed sills with air deflectors and a rear diffuser with four vertically positioned exhaust pipes – everything screams speed. This is an Aston Martin that shamelessly poses for the cameras and envious glances.

The interior offers a contrast: luxury, tranquility and exceptional quality. Alcantara seats, optional leather, digital displays and the latest infotainment system with 800-watt audio system conjure up the luxury of a sports saloon. “S” emblems are everywhere – in case you forget what you’re sitting in.

Aston Martin DBX S: technology that learns from supercars

The powertrain is based on AMG technology, but with Valhalla additions. Larger turbochargers and improved internals give the engine a more aggressive character. The nine-speed automatic transmission with a so-called “wet clutch” shifts sharper, and the all-wheel drive allows it all to work in harmony – or in a wild storm, if you prefer.

The brakes on the Aston Martin DBX S remain the same as on the DBX707: 420 mm discs at the front and 390 mm at the rear made of carbon ceramic, providing brutal braking, without compromise.

The price for exclusivity? more than 240,000 euros

The Aston Martin DBX S is already very expensive. It starts at £210,000 in the UK, which means that the price here will be around €240,000 – and that's without extras. Add in a unique paint job, custom leather, carbon accessories and a dream sound system and you're easily in excess of €300,000.

Its biggest competitors – the Ferrari Purosangue and Lamborghini Urus SE – have similar numbers, but the DBX S hits its own note: a flawless combination of brutality and elegance, and perhaps the last such flawless V8 SUV before the world is flooded with electric noise.

Conclusion: a British super SUV that deserves a hat off

The DBX S isn't an SUV for everyone. It's for those who want something special - something that screams power, but smells of leather and fine tea. It's one of the few examples where the words "sporty" and "SUV" don't sound like a joke. Perhaps even the only SUV James Bond would drive - if he ever had to catch a villain in the family car.

If you have a deep wallet and a heart for eight cylinders, the DBX S is without a doubt one of the best SUVs the world has ever seen. And maybe, just maybe, the last of its kind.
