BMW reveals refreshed 2024 BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M Competition with V8 mild hybrid powertrain

BMW has revealed the refreshed 2024 X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition models, which boast a new V8 mild hybrid powertrain with 48V technology that offers even more responsive power delivery. The updated versions of the popular M Competition SUVs are equipped with a slimmer headlight design, a new black kidney grille and new exterior colors. The interior of the cars is equipped with a curved BMW screen, which combines a 12.3-inch information screen and a 14.9-inch control screen in one frame. The X5 M Competition starts at 123,295 $ and the X6 M Competition starts at 128,195 $. Prices of course vary by market.

BMW has updated its line of high-performance vehicles with two new 2024 – models BMW X5 M Competition and BMW X6 M Competition, which boast a refreshed exterior design, enhanced digital features and a powerful V8 mild hybrid powertrain. The updated models continue to use the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, but now with a 48-volt mild hybrid system that provides 12 horsepower (9 kilowatts) and 147 pound-feet (199 newton meters) of torque.

This updated powertrain offers better acceleration performance, along with improved fuel efficiency, although BMW has yet to release specific numbers. V8 engine it also features a range of new components, including a crossover exhaust manifold, reinforced crankshaft drive and an electrically controlled exhaust valve for turbo engines, among others. Hoping that, like a true BMW, it won't break down as much.

The 2024 X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition models can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (249 km/h). Additionally, the optional M Driver's Package increases this speed to 285 km/h (177 mph). Of course, for an additional fee, because it is a completely normal practice at BMW even for the most expensive models.

The new models are equipped with the new eight-speed M Steptronic gearbox with Drivelogic, which has shorter gear ratios for the first three cogs. Additionally, a new cast aluminum oil pan with cooling fins and increased fluid capacity helps keep the transmission running smoothly.

The cabin comes standard with carbon fiber trim, and buyers can also choose from options such as Fineline Black or Silver Ash Root Open Pore wood.

The exterior of the models boasts a refreshed design, with new, thinner headlights and black kidney. New exterior colors include Brooklyn Gray Metallic, Isle of Man Green Metallic and Frozen Pure Gray Metallic. Both the X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition come standard with 21-inch M light-alloy wheels at the front, along with 22-inch M light-alloy wheels at the rear. Forged M light-alloy wheels of the same dimensions are also available as accessories.

The updated models also have an expanded selection of driver assistance systems, including automated driving and parking systems, and a much larger selection of digital services, as well as the familiar M concept of control/management with new digital services.

In general, the model BMW X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition from 2024 offer a powerful and refreshed take on popular luxury vehicle segments Sports Activity Vehiclee and Sports Activity Coupé.

The latest generation of BMW's iDrive, which is based on the BMW 8 operating system, brings new digital services for X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition. The standard BMW Live Cockpit Professional also features the BMW Head-up Display and the BMW Maps cloud-based navigation system along with the Extended View function. Whenever the vehicle is stationary, the driver and front passenger can enjoy streaming content from YouTube and the Bundesliga app in the car on the dashboard.

Both models come standard with 21-inch M light-alloy wheels at the front and 22-inch M light-alloy parts at the rear. Forged M light-alloy wheels of the same dimensions are available as accessories. They include a new version in Jet Black solid finish.

The 2024 BMW X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition are expected to arrive at US dealerships by summer 2023. The X5 M Competition starts at 123,295 $, while the X6 M Competition starts at 128,195 $. Updated versions of these high-performance SUVs retain the power and performance that M enthusiasts love, while incorporating the latest technology to enhance the driving experience.
