After years of waiting, rumors, the Lotus electric crossover is finally here. And it bears the name of Eletre. According to the brand, the word means "to revive" in some Eastern European languages. The company emphasizes that the Eletre model will have the spirit of a traditional Lotus sports car, but with the utility of a crossover.
Lotus Eletre rides on the Lotus Electric Premium Architecture platform. Lotus guarantees that customers will be offered a variety of powertrains, and that the Eletre will offer up to 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts). It will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in less than 3 seconds, while the top speed will be 260 km/h. The automaker has yet to reveal the crossover's weight. This one is always among the best at Lotus. So we expect it to be lightweight compared to the competition.
In terms of technology, the Eletre is equipped with four deployable lidar sensors. There are two on the roof – one above the windshield and one above the rear window. In addition, each side of the body has a device near the front fender. In regions where this is permitted, the vehicle uses cameras as side mirrors. This will enable the Lotus Eletra to have Level 2 autonomous driving. Lotus claims that the Eletre is capable of “autonomous driving from start to finish”. The technology supports wireless updates for future system improvements. which means it will be upgraded.
Lotus will build the Eletre at a new factory in Wuhan, China. Deliveries to the first customers begin in 2023. The first of them go to China, the United Kingdom and Europe.
