You don't need any special tools to make this dessert, just some time and ingredients. Due to their freshness, the pie is perfect for summer picnics, as they are easy to prepare and, in addition, impress even the most demanding guests.

Ingredients

  • 230 g of cold butter (for the base) + 115 g of butter (for the cream)
  • 180 g flour (for the base) + 30 g flour (for the cream)
  • 50 g of white sugar (for the base) + 300 g of sugar (for the cream)
  • 30 g of powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of grated orange peel
  • 250 ml of orange juice
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon of grated orange peel

Directions

  1. The recipe for juicy orange cubes is quite simple. To start, heat the oven to 180 C.
  2. Then prepare the base. In a large bowl, mix the flour, white sugar, powdered sugar and one tablespoon of orange zest. Grate the cold butter into the mixture and rub it into the flour with your hands until you get the texture of wet sand.
  3. Press the mixture evenly into a square pan that you have covered with baking paper. Place the baking tray in the heated oven for 30 minutes.
  4. While baking, prepare the cream. Mix orange juice, eggs, sugar, cornstarch, flour and orange peel in a saucepan and heat the liquid on the stove at a moderate temperature until it thickens. When the liquid boils, cook everything together for about one minute, then remove from the stove.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and stir in the butter.
  6. Pour the cream over the baked base and return everything to the oven. Bake the cake for another 30 minutes or until the cream hardens.
  7. Cool the cake, then slice and serve. If desired, you can also add a little grated chocolate.
