Film lovers have an additional reason to rejoice this year - the popular and idyllic Motovun Film Festival is celebrating its 18th birthday. from July 25 to 29, we will have the opportunity to enjoy ourselves as it should be, as the film festival will serve up the best films from small and independent film productions, and this time the focus will be on French cinematography and culture.

The Festival of European and Mediterranean Film 2016 is approaching, which will take place in Piran between October 4 and 8, 2016. Its main purpose is to bring quality European film with Hollywood films closer to the saturated Slovenian audience. As part of the festival, we will be able to watch the latest hits from the world's largest film festivals, such as Berlin, Cannes, Venice, Toronto, Karlovy Vary, Sarajevo and others.
The Kurja Polt 2019 genre film festival brings to Kinodvor and Slovensko kinoteka again this year selected film genre masterpieces that you don't want and shouldn't miss. The title of this year's retrospective is Freaks, and it brings overlooked pearls, cult classics that are more than welcome in the dark skin. And, of course, exhibitions, conferences and workshops, which will be in the spirit of serious theoretical reflection.
The film festival Film na oko 2017 is approaching. This will be the 3rd international film festival for young people. It will take place in spring and autumn, namely in ten different locations. It brings viewers of all generations a selection of the best youth films from global film festivals such as Berlinale, Sundance and Tribeca.
The end of summer means time for the 71st Venice Film Festival, which this year will take place from August 27. until 6/9/2014. The festival will begin in the renovated Palazzo del Cinema on the Lido, namely with the latest film by Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu - "Birdman or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance".
The 22nd Slovenian Film Festival will take place from September 17 to 22, 2019 in Portorož, in the halls of the Auditorium Portorož and Monforta, the picturesque venue of the former salt warehouse. After the festival, the award-winning films will be screened again in Ljubljana's Kino Komuna.
Mountains, nature and adventure are calling for the mountain film festival, which will start its thirteenth edition in style - with the screening of the most desired film of this year, Free Solo, at three venues at the same time, in Ljubljana, Celje and Radovljica. In these three places and also in Domžale, visitors will be able to watch 32 films about alpinism, climbing, adventure, mountain nature and culture, and in Ljubljana there will be six more lectures, a book presentation and a round table.
In 2015, the Slovenian music group Laibach plowed the field when they became the first foreign group to perform in the otherwise hermetically sealed North Korea. On May 1, 2017, with a concert at the Jeonju Film Festival in South Korea, they will become the first rock band to perform in both Koreas.
In the movie business, 60 hours is practically nothing. In the MUVIT/6X60 short filmmaking marathon, however, that's all you have to write, shoot, edit and deliver a 6- to 8-minute film. At the third edition of the MUVIT/6X60 (2016) marathon, especially young people shone, who managed to create real little masterpieces in 60 hours. The best four films can be seen below.
At the beginning of this September, the second edition of the FilmMixer film festival in the old town center of Kranj will mix the film scene with different films. Every year, the Slovenian Film Festival (FSF) presents the production of full-length and short feature films, documentaries and animated films that were made in Slovenia in the previous year.
