The 2026 Alfa Romeo Stelvio, that designer espresso on wheels, is getting bigger, quieter and even bolder. But the question remains: is it still a real Alfa if it doesn't roar?
New ones Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2026 brings a complete design overhaul. Patent images reveal sharper lines, slimmer LED daytime running lights and a split headlight design reminiscent of the BMW iX. The triangular taillights and hidden rear door handle add a modern touch. We had a discussion in the editorial office and we find that 2026 could be an interesting year for this very dear brand.
Dimensions – Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2026: More is more
The existing Stelvio measures 469 cm (184.5 inches), but the new one will stretch all the way to around 480–510 cm (187.6–201.8 inches), depending on the version. In other words: the Stelvio has hit the gym and now wears a size XL. And hey – more space means more battery.
Platform: Goodbye Giorgio, welcome STLA Large
The Giorgio platform that built Alfa's enviable reputation among purists is retiring. In its place comes the STLA Large - an electric-ready, 800-volt beast that supports batteries up to 118 kWh and acceleration that would make even the Taycan dream. A twin-motor setup with up to 1,000 hp (735 kW)? Sure. Although the Stelvio probably won't get that on day one - the Quadrifoglio version will, as always, be delayed. But it will be worth the wait.
Drive: Electric, with soul
Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2026 promises that the Stelvio EV will still be “fun to drive”. Capable of 0-100 km/h in just over two seconds with the most powerful version – these are not just numbers for forum debate. ICE fans are not forgotten either – a 2.0 turbo four-cylinder will be the standard choice, maybe even a Hurricane I6. And that 2.9 V6 could survive Euro 7 – fingers crossed.
Interior: Less plastic, more digital drama
If the previous Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2026 had an interior that was slightly behind the competition, now it comes with SmartCockpit and STLA Brain. That means OTA updates, digital assistants, and an interface that actually works – without sending you to therapy.
Conclusion: Is it still an Alfa, or is it just an EV?
The 2026 Alfa Romeo Stelvio is bigger, smarter and electrified – a necessary evil if it wants to survive in a world where emotions are measured in kWh. But what really matters is the question: Does it still give you that feeling when your heart skips a beat at the turn on a winding road?
If we believe the promises from Turin – yes. But if the final version is too sterile, the Stelvio will become just another one of those “okay electric things”. But since it’s an Alfa, we can probably expect it to still be driving drama queen – in the best possible sense.
Price? No word yet, but don't expect the entry-level Stelvio EV to cost a fortune. It's aimed at the premium market – BMW iX and Porsche Macan EV, look in the mirror.
If the thing lives up to its promise, this could be it. electric renaissance Alfa Romeo. And if another V6 comes into play… well, then we're really back in the game.
