The 64th Berlinale is coming

The Berlin International Film Festival is ready to rock again! From February 6th to 14th, it will serve up a selection of big-screen masterpieces from as many as 21 countries, among which the films of Wes Anderson, George Clooney, Richard Linklater and Lars von Trier stand out.

They released the list these days 20 movies, which will compete for the most prestigious Golden Bear award at the first European film festival this year. Among them there are as many as 18 who will also be presented to the audience for the first time. American director Richard Linklater will be together with the acting duo Patricia Arquette and Ethan Hawke presented the story"Boyhood”, about the relationship between a son and his divorced parents. Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker will shine in the Franco-Algerian "La voie de l'ennemi” (“Two Men in the City”), tells the story of a former convict who converted to Islam.

The flourishing Chinese film industry will be represented by three films, among which the shocking "Bai Ri Yan Huo” (“Black Coal, Thin Ice”) by the director Yinana Diao, which depicts a series of murders by a single woman, also presented to a global audience for the first time.

Latin American filmmakers are also joining the program"Praia do Futuro” (“Beach of the Future”), a love story of a homosexual couple set in Brazil and Germany.

Domestic, German production also brings quite a few gems. As the first foreign film shot in the regions of Mazar-i-Sharif and Kunduz in the north of Afghanistan, under the direction of the director Fea Aladaga represents "Zwischen Welten” (“Between the two worlds”).

It's already raising the most dust"The Monuments Men” (“Guardians of the Legacy”), the latest directorial fruit of the star George Clooney, showing Cate Blanchett and Matt Damon in a thrilling tale of rescuing art from Nazi thieves. In addition to him, outside the competition program, the German-French "La belle et la bête” (“Beauty and the Beast”) and the highly anticipated drama by Lars von Trier, "Nymphomaniac” (“Nymphomaniac”).

The festival will be opened by the latest masterpiece Wes Anderson, "The Grand Budapest Hotel”, set in a 1920s European hotel, featuring a brilliant cast Ralph Fiennes, Saorise Ronan, Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray and Jude Law.

An eight-member jury led by the producer James Schamus ("Brokeback Mountain") will announce the winner of the Golden Bear on February 15, and the British filmmaker will officially receive the honorary award at that time Ken Loach.
