Recipe: eggnog according to Martha Stewart's recipe

Egg liqueur or eggnog is a great drink for cold winter evenings, with spices it conjures up a touch of Christmas. Let it smell like the holidays!

Egg liqueur or eggnog in English it is something different but very tasty. A popular festive drink that was already prepared by our grandmothers.

You can come up with your own, or use this recipe to surprise your New Year's Eve guests. If there is any left over after a wild night, it can also be an interesting substitute for milk or cream in your morning coffee.

Egg liqueur - eggnog

Ingredients

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 2 egg whites
  • 700 ml of milk
  • 250 ml of sweet sour cream
  • 60 ml of rum
  • 60 ml of bourbon
  • 340 ml of cognac
  • 150 g of sugar
  • nutmeg
  • pinch of salt

Directions

  1. Using a stand mixer, mix the egg yolks and sugar until you get a light foamy mixture.
  2. Heat the milk on the fire, add salt. Before it boils, add it to the sugar and egg mixture and stir constantly. Cook for a few more minutes until it thickens.
  3. Strain and pour into a punch bowl. Add sweet cream and alcohol. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  4. The next day, beat the egg whites with the remaining sugar. When the mixture is smooth and the sugar has melted, remove from the heat and beat until stiff. Gently fold into the cooled mixture.
  5. Offer hot or cold. Optional.
