Let's sweeten ourselves with culinary mixes between an American donut and a French croissant and try an easy recipe that sounds like the "Cronut" donut with Nutella.

  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs

Process:

Mix warm milk and yeast in a large bowl. Mix sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add a cup of flour and salt to the mixture and gradually add the remaining flour while mixing (kneading) with an electric mixer. Mix until the dough is flexible and elastic. Cover the bowl with a cloth and put it in the cold for about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, mix softened butter and ¼ cup white flour in a bowl. Place the cooled dough on a floured surface and roll out into a half-inch-thick rectangle. Cover the dough with a quarter of the butter mixture and fold it as if you were folding a letter - in thirds. Place the folded dough in the refrigerator for half an hour again. Roll out the chilled folded dough to half an inch thick and repeat the buttering and "folding" of the dough. Put it in the steamer again for half an hour and repeat the process at least two more times. Place the dough in the refrigerator overnight.
The next day, we roll out the dough and cut out circles with the molds, in which, if desired, we can also cut out the central "holes", typical of American doughnuts. In a large container, heat the oil to 170 degrees and carefully place the cut circles in it. When they are golden brown on one side, turn them over and cook on the other side. Drain the fried donuts on paper towels and coat them with Nutella and sprinkle with crunchy crushed almonds. If you want even sweeter donuts, you can also fill them with Nutella (use a syringe to help with this).
