After many years of anticipation by the international automotive fraternity, Ferrari today unveiled the Purosangue, the first four-door four-seater in the 75-year history of the "prancing horse".

Ferrari Purosangue clearly resembles a crossover, or rather an SUV. But Ferrari doesn't call it that and denies any suggestion that they've built an off-road vehicle. He simply calls his newest horse in the stable “the car”. The latter actually and very obviously differs from conventional SUVs in some features. The Ferrari Purosangua is powered by the 715bhp V12 engine its manufacturer is known for and is mounted significantly further behind the front wheels than similar vehicles to achieve better weight distribution than the rest of the SUV competition, Ferrari says.

While Ferrari had produced four-seaters before, its regular cars were always two-door models, with rear seats more suited to occasional use than long journeys. The Ferrari Purosangue has four full seats, a first for a Ferrari model. Both the front and rear seats are heated, and the driver's and passenger's seats also have a massage function.

The Ferrari Purosangue could accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in about three seconds, and to 200 km/h in 10 seconds. The engine, according to the automaker, is designed to produce as much power as possible even at low revs. The car has an eight-speed automatic transmission with two clutches for quick gear changes. Power is transmitted to the road by all four wheels. Of course, it advertises itself with a distinctive V12 sound unmatched in the entire auto industry.

According to Ferrari, the first Purosangues will be delivered to the US towards the end of 2023. Deliveries to European countries will follow soon after. Ferrari sets the base price at 390,000 euros. But even those who have sufficient financial means to buy are not necessarily chosen to buy a Ferrari Purosangua: "In the beginning, we deliver most of our production to our collectors or existing customers, who we call family members," says the head of Ferrari Marketing - Enrico Galliera.
