Similar to Kuhinja dela, the Dutch restaurant Syr also has a very special story. It was opened with the help of start-up capital. Over 500 investors have invested in it, and its specialty is that it employs Syrian and Afghan refugees who came to the Netherlands as part of the wave of refugees. It serves indigenous dishes from Syria in a European style.
Refugees too often we judge, and that before we've even given a single person a chance. Restaurant Syr, located in the Dutch city Utrecht, is a direct response to migrant crisis, and it was opened with the help of a campaign for crowdfunding.
The restaurant is hiring Syrian and Afghan refugees and wants to give them a career opportunity easier and faster assimilation or integration into society.
